GOOD HABITS
Habits make a man. Habits decide whether a man is going to be
a winner or loser. Winners mostly have good habits. We find losers have several
bad habits.
Most of us have some good habits and some bad habits. First
of all we have to identify our good and bad habits. It is even better to write
them down. Then think over it. We find that most of our habits are very old. We
have been doing it from our childhood. Perhaps we imitated our parents or siblings
or even friends.
Now we have to make an important decision. We have to
cultivate good habits. Those habits should grow stronger and regular. Regarding
bad habits, we should stop them all together. This is not an easy task. Ask any
person who smokes. He knows that smoking is injurious to health. He also knows
that he is losing his money as well. But he does not have the will power to
stop this bad habit. Bad habits cannot be reduced slowly. You have to stop them
immediately.
As for good habits you have to let them grow steadily. You
cannot build a good habit in a short time. You need several months to nurture a
good habit. Suppose you decide to exercise regularly. That is a good decision.
But if you overdo it the first day, you would be too weak to do it the next
day. So you have to increase your physical activity slowly.
Let us identify some good habits which we all need. One is
punctuality. Another one is cleanliness. Honesty and hard work are also
important. Regular eating habits, regular sleeping hours, extra reading,
regular exercise are some very good habits. Let us hope, we will build up good
habits during our school years. That way we would become good citizens and successful
persons.
