The Princess and the Frog: Tiana's Cookbook: Recipes for Kids

Book Review   by:ReaditDiva     Original Author: Disney

From the Walt Disney hit animated movie The Princess and the Frog comes a yummy cookbook for young chefs. Kids in the kitchen can learn how to make delicious down-home treats, from Big-Easy Breakfasts to Dazzling Desserts. Princess Tiana welcomes the aspiring cooks in an introductory letter filled with cooking and safety tips.

In the movie, Tiana always dreamed of owning a New Orleans restaurant with her father. “One day”, she writes, “Daddy told me his secret ingredient, the one that he sprinkled in everything: love.” Each recipe in this cook book features large, easy-to-read print and photographs of the food. Cartoons of The Princess and the Frog movie characters are sprinkled throughout. Some of the tasty recipes in this cookbook include:

Tiana’s Famous Beignets (you know you’re in New Orleans if the doughnuts are square and don’t have holes!)

Mama Odie’s Muffuletta Sandwich (especially popular during New Orleans’ Mardi Gras festival)

Facilier’s Fruit Salad (as easy as changing humans into frogs!)

Red Beans and Rice (a tasty traditional Louisiana dish)

Swamp-Water Smoothie (a frosty drink to help keep you cool when you’re dodging Cajun frog-hunters in the Louisiana swamp)

Louis’ Alligator Cake (inspired by the trumpet-playing gator from the movie)
