Had plans with friends, told your boss that you had a stomach ache and asked for half the day off? Make sure you have an explanation if you happen to bump in to him/her in the nightclub because it is not a remote possibility at all , thanks to younger, with it bosses. I know my boss steps out often for a drink. Although I was a regular at a popular hangout near where he lives, I stopped going there. No way in hell did I want to bump in to him.
THE NETWORKING BOSS
Social networking sites are cool both for you and your boss. Three weeks after I joined my boss sent me a friend request on my social networking account. She even asked me once if. I had checked her request and I had to accept it. Now my account is as good as dead. I have to think twice before I post an update or a picture while she is merrily going on about her life.
DRESSED TO EMBARRASS
If you have a boss who rules the sartorial pecking order too. You can not walk in to office with a jholachhaap look. When I was in college the jhola-chappal look was so cool but when I started working with my boss, elder to me by some 10 years, I looked shamefully shabby next to him in his dapper suits. And of-course, all the girls on the floor had eyes only for him although I am not bad looking.
SAME EXCUSE, BOSS?
With a young boss around be a more careful with your excuse. Chances are a couple of years ago, she/he was using the same ones. In one of our department meetings my boss said that in her presence there was no reason to lie. She told us that even if we wanted to go watch a movie, meet our boyfriends/girlfriends, we have been doing ever since, and she never refuses us half days and leaves.
