I read with interest the case of a liberal priest who had been reprimanded by the Vatican about
speaking out against the Church's teaching though I often wonder in lay terms does that mean
he has been defrocked, or possibly put in detention or has lost his job. However the article wasn't
clear other than the headlines: Vaatican dsapproval of liberal priest.
As a teacher who taught Religious Education and who has been involved n a Multi Faith Programme I write a lot of reports and I got started on writing poetry 15 years ago and won Poetry Wales in 1997 a competitio but it ws to
be the start of something big and since then I have published 1OOs of poems in books now kept at the
British Library in London : and to crown it all I have published 4 books in the USA from 2OO5 to 2O11, so
little did I realize that one small step would lead to many large steps.
Also I have written poems to the Catholic Church in Southampton and my work has been praised but then I am a writer and a woman, not a liberal priest so I didnt get disapproval at all.
So I hope that the Vatican is forgiving and that a reconcilation takes place between it and its priests afterall
I dont want to loose my audience because they are lovers of English Poety and in particular of my poetry.
Hard work pays UP!
