Work section of the Guardian Weekend asks the question: Is your boss a bad sport? And the answer would
have been .... probably if you call him in the middle of the night when arriving on the late night Istanbul flight or when he is on holidays or better still - with the family.
But this article is not concerned with such vagaries and directs the question as follows .. while many workers will
get time off to be able to work from home during the Olympics - some employers just won/t play ball so
Full time workers are entitled to a minimum of 28 days inclusive of bank and public holidays ...
For those who have to go to work lateness brought about by congestion from the expected flood of people
going to the games is a contentious issue.
How to avoid falling out.
Present your manager with solutions not problems.
What are your commitments?
Think about how you could be flexible.
Think about watching the games on the internet.
Sell your ticket.
The benigh boss .. happily ..... an employer who gives his staff a lot of freedom ..
All good stuff but what about - I have gone for 5O jobs but not one interview - so narrow your target and concentrate on fewer opportunites - and I guess be there at the right time and like the writer get an on the spot interview at the bins but do stay out of the rain keep dry keep healthy and keep on trying ... I have rare experience and ability so don't give UP!
Thanks WORK for suggestions on improvement at the place of work as Hard work pays UP!
