Press Association report that the Duchess of York has been asked to attend court in Turkey where she is
accused of taking part in secret filming of two orphanages - Sarah Ferguson faces charges of going against the
law in acquiring footage and violating privacy of five children at one of the orphanages.
She could face a maximum sentence of 22 years and 6 months in prison - and the Duchess of York
is being tried in absentia in Turkey - the Turkish crime is not a crime in the UK. The Government said
Sarah should attend the next hearing. A spokesperson said she has no plans to go at this stage and the
next hearing is possibly in the Autumn.
She cannot be extradited! The Duchess allegedly made an undercover trip to Turkey in 2008 and two
journalists are being separately investigated.
Oddly enough I was on holiday in Istanbul in the Autumn of 2008 and there was no reference to the
Duchess of York or two journalists at all in Istanbul so I assume that story had not been highlighted!
The Government has accused Sarah of smearing Turkey's image it will investigate and address
problems at the orphanages.
So this story about the Duchess of York has again hit the headlines during this May Bank holiday and
therefore I must add to the commotion and say I am surprised that it has not been solved but
then things are on hold at present until Autumn which usually means September here in the UK!
I did see some of the footage of this film about the two orphanages but there is little to say since
the business is concerned with illegality rather than content I guess; hard work pays UP!
