The weather is ever a topic for concern and the Daily Express headline front page reads :
winds gusting 7O mph here in the South of England and to make matters worse the Daily
Express are accurate in this reporting as last night the wind blew and it blew till it nearly blew
the houses down.
The area which was mentioned is here in the South and the branches were reported as
falling off the trees which overhang the housing areas here in Southampton so I was
called out .. I was on stand by and then on duty to get it sorted and even though I am only
a Volunteer I got out my rusty pen and small blue pad and got down the facts and emailed
them to the People at the Top: The Housing Officer at Southampton City Council and got
a prompt reply which I dutifully dealt with and now it looks as if the wind has dropped.
So after all my hard work and also hard work of my fellow resident we are safe rather than
sorry adding to this nothing goes unattended.
Oddly enough it was the report in the Daily Express that got us all started with due
attention to the weather, the environment and to housing concerns.
The rain has been plentiful in the last few months so much so I bought a raincoat
but it is a far cry from my 6Os mac which was worn to my job at the bank and let
me add I also carried an umbrella which was an essential accessory in those days
of my job at the bank!
And so back to today's news the closing section of a private conversation with my
Istanbul boss was that I would never get the JOB so it has been necessary for me
to go back in time and state categorically that I did get te Job at the bank in 1963 and
was well known in those days for excellence for my banking career and skills and
hard work pays UP!
