There was such excitement on the streets of the historic Cathedral City of Winchester
that for a moment or two I stood back and scratched my head and wondered why! The reason
is that Winchester the historical Cathedral City had given itself over to the London 2O12
celebration and the torch obviously had been and gone at Winchester: the flags were
stretching across the High Street the people were out and about and the sun was
shining in the sky.

So what better way to celebrate LONDON 2O12 that a visit to the Cathedral City of
Winchester where the bunting catches your eye wherever you turn and the pedestrian
paths: walkways and areas of the city were clear of traffic so it was possible to get
around on foot without too much trouble.

The Forest like areas of Winchester created a sense of the past when I was at College
at Winchester 3O years ago and the Cathedral and ancient place of worship for
Anglicans: Protestants and Church of England Christians stood tall amidst the hustle
and bustle of the London 2O12 Celebrations at Winchester in Hampshire: England.

I had lived at Winchester for over 2O years with family so I wondered whether or not the familiar faces of
the past would show up so I stopped off at the Wessex Hotell adjacent to Winchester Cathedral
and had Coffee and shortbread biscuits and very reasonably priced it was let me add So no familiar
faces of the past turned up from my residency at Winchester of 2O years plus so I fortunately
had packed a notebook and pen and thus I took it out and scribbled down some erstwhile lines
on the sights and sounds at Winchester on July 2O12 a lady in waiting for the start of the
London 2O12 ; when I returned home to Southampton I got online and emailed my poems
to my publishers in a bid to win the Prizes in Writing of Poems: rather like the Olympiads who are
getting ready to leave Prague to compete in London 2O12: the reason I mention it is that I lived and worked
ouside Prague in Czech Republic in Central and Eastern Europe so I wish all Olympiads "Great Good Luck" and hope that I too win the writing prize - its long awaited and much deserved: Looking forward to London 2O12:
