no frills diet

Need to lose weight but your budget doesn’t stretch to pre packaged
food plans or weight loss groups?
Do you want to eat the same meals as the rest of the family and still
lose weight?
Don’t want to be constantly hungry?
Then the No Frills Weight Loss Program is for you.
The secret of successful weight loss and weight maintenance is not a
secret at all. All you have to do is speed up your metabolism. The No Frills Weight Loss Program makes it easy, without making major changes to your lifestyle and with no cash outlay.
There are two ways to speed your metabolism:

Eat entrée size portions of food five times a day.

Exercise regularly.
Can it work? It can and it does.
Starving yourself doesn’t work in the long term. Changing your eating
habits is the only way to lose weight successfully and permanently, but it has
to be done gradually. You need to be able to lose weight without constantly
thinking about food. Losing weight is as psychological as it is physical.
The key is to eat snack size portions regularly and eat nothing after
7:30 pm.
Here is an example of how you can modify your existing ‘three meals
a day’ diet. Eat half of what you now eat and save the other half for a snack.
If a typical breakfast for you consists of cereal and toast, eat only one
of them. At midmorning, eat the other.
Don’t skip breakfast. Your body needs breakfast to get your
metabolism moving. A faster metabolism burns more kilojoules.
At lunchtime you might eat your sandwich and save your fruit for an
afternoon snack. Alternatively, eat a salad for lunch and save the roll for a
snack.
When it comes time for the evening meal, eat what the rest of the
family is eating, including chips, but serve yourself half the portion and put
it onto a smaller plate. Don’t eat dessert. You should finish each meal
satisfied, but not full.
If desserts are your weakness, put a small serving aside and eat it for a
mid morning snack the next day. No food is forbidden, timing and
moderation is the key.
If, after the evening meal you feel a little peckish, have a hot or cold
drink. Tea, coffee and diet drinks are fine, but avoid alcohol to one drink a week as a treat.
Eating five small meals rather than three large meals each day will
speed up your metabolism. A faster metabolism will break down excess

body fat as fuel and will result in weight loss.
Exercise will also speed up your body’s metabolism and is an
important part of this program. The type of exercise is up to you, but it
should be something you enjoy doing or you won’t keep it up.
Walking is easy and cheap and will burn up lots of kilojoules. Four,
thirty-minute walks a week will enable you to lose weight, but by all means
do more if you can. Don’t overdo it to begin with, start by walking for ten
minutes, gradually building up to thirty minutes over several weeks.
At first you may feel guilty about eating five times a day and wonder
how you can possibly lose weight without hunger pains, but provided you
stick to snack size portions, and exercise, you will lose weight.
Don’t expect dramatic weekly weight losses. You will lose half to one
kilogram a week. Slow, steady and permanent weight loss is the aim of this
program.
When you eat five times a day, you won’t get ravenously hungry.
Your blood sugar level remains constant so you don’t experience drops in
energy that trigger food cravings.
Binge eating is eliminated because no food is taboo.
As a rule of thumb, consume carbohydrates before lunch. Generally,
that’s when our bodies burn the most kilojoules. By all means have a serving
of rice, pasta or potatoes with your evening meal but keep it small.
Social occasions shouldn’t be a problem on the No Frills Program. At
a restaurant for example order an entrée for your main meal and take the
dessert home in a ‘doggy bag’ to be eaten the next day.
Use your own judgement. If you are going to offend your host by only
eating half of the meal they’ve spent all day preparing, err on the side of
diplomacy and eat what is served. Simply resume the program the next day.
Small setbacks are inevitable but not irreversible.
Before long you will start to ‘listen’ to your body and recognize the
signals it sends you. You’ll feel physically uncomfortable if you overeat and
your body will go into automatic pilot to avoid that feeling.
Eating a whole packet of biscuits at the one sitting will be a thing of
the past because your body will stop you at one or two.
Eating five small meals a day will become a pattern for the rest of
your life, even after you have reached your goal weight. The No Frills
Program trains your body to become your ally in maintaining your weight.
You will recognize the signals that tell you to eat more to prevent
excess weight loss, or to eat less to shed any gained kilos.
Give the No Frills Weight Loss Program a go. It will cost you zero
dollars and you’ve got nothing to lose except unwanted weight.
