To investigate the effect of the Chinese herbs, No.1 Yihuo Qingyi on severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) and SAP-associated
myocardial damage in rats. Sixty-three male SD rats were divided randomly into the sham-operated group (A group, n=9), the control group (B group, n=27) and the Chinese herbs treatment group (C group, n=27). SAP was induced by intraductal administration 5% sodium taurocholate. Artery blood of the A, B, C group was obtained at 6 h, 12 h and 18 h after induction of the model respectively. Serum concentrations of CK-MB and CTn1 were detected by ELISA. The expression of NF-κB in myocardial tissue was determined by SP immunohistochemical technique. Pancreatic and myocardial tissues were examined under light and electron microscopy. The contents of CTn1, CK-MB in serum was significantly increased in 6 h after induction of SAP, the contents of CTn1 and CK-MB in serum were significantly decreased, compared with those of the control group (P <0.01). NF-κB activity in myocardial tissue was significantly increased in 6 h after induction of SAP, and myocardial NF-κB activity of the treatment group was significantly decreased compared with those of the control group (P <0.01). Pancreatic and myocardial tissues of the treatment group of the pathological changes was alleviated in contrast to the control group. Promote Blood Circulation Qing Yi Decoction can inhibit the activity of NF-κB in the myocardial tissue, alleviate the pathological damage of SAP rats and myocardial damage following SAP .Promote Blood Circulation Qing Yi Decoction is a potential effective medicine for SAP therapy.
