Article Abstract by: TsingHua

Original Author: Pharmacology and Clinics of Chinese Materia Medica
Objective: To compare the different effect of Yupingfengsan total polysaccharide(TYP) with different administration methods
and periods on immunosuppression mice. Methods: Cyclophosphamide was used to setup the immunosuppression mice model. Compare the immune function on mice model with different administrations of TYP oral administration (ig), intravenous injection (iv) and drug contained serum iv without protein, and different periods of 1,3 and 14 days. Intraperitoneal macrophage phagocytosis experiment was taken to study the drug effect on non-specific immunity; haemolysin antibody experiment was used to study its effect on humoral immunity; DNCB induced delayed hypersensitivity experiment was used to evaluate the cellular immunity effect of the drug; Immunofluorescence was used to determine the scale of CD_4~+and CD_8~+ T cell in peripheral blood; and ELISA was used to determine IL-1 and IL-2 secretion in peripheral blood and IgA content in perfusate of the respiratory tract and intestines. Results: TYP iv administration and drug contained serum iv administration without protein did not enhance intraperitoneal macrophage phagocytosis and IgA secretion. TYP ig administration for 3 days increased the IgA secretion in intestinal tract, but not in respiratory tract. TYP iv administration increased the content of IL-1 and IL-2 in peripheral blood in short time, and also affected specific immunity in 14 days. Conclusion: The intestinal process of TYP was related to the enhancement of non-specific immunity and membrane immunity, the immune enhancement of YTP may be caused by the activation on intestinal membrane immunity.
