AIM:To study the effect of omeprazole on inhibiting
intragastric acid in different dosage and drug giving ways and direct
doctors to use the drug more correctly and reasonably. METHODS:One hundred patients with active
peptic ulcer proved by endoscopy were divided into three groups.Forty patients of group A were treated with omeprazole 40 mg,iv,bid.Tirty six patients of group B were treated with omeprazole 20 mg, po ,bid.Twenty four patients of group C were treated with omeprazole 20 mg, po ,qd.Ten patients (A 2) in group A and 10 patients (B 2) in group B were monitored when administered the first dosage of omeprazole in order to get the earliest effective time of the drug. The
intragastric pH of other 80 patients were monitored after administering omeprazole for 3 5 d. RESULTS:Twenty four hours intragastric pH detection after administering the drug for 3 5 d showed that the mean pH in group A was 7.07± s 0.15 and that in group B was 6.9±0.6,and there was no significant difference between the two groups,so their effects of gastric acid inhibition was similar( P >0.05),but greater than that of group C,5.8±1.4( P <0.01).The initial effective time after using the drug in group A 2 was (0.7± 0.6 ) h,and that in group B 2 was (4.8± 1.0 ) h.There was a significant difference between them( P < 0.01 ). CONCLUSION:All the three different dosages and drug giving ways of omeprazole have excellent effect on intragastric acid inhibition. But it is more rapidly to inhibit the gastric acid when omeprazole is used 40 mg intravenously twice a day.
