In order to study the mechanism of
"Intestine Peace Granules"(main ingredients:Radix Astragali,Flos Chrysanthemi,Radix Cynanchi
Paniculati,Radix Aucklandiae,Caulis Sargentodoxae)in treating ulcerous colitis(UC),40 rats were divided into four groups of A,B,C and D,with UC model created in the latter three groups by cellular immunity(TNBS/alcohol),and treated with different methods since the second day of the model creation.Group A and B were not treated and just fed with 2ml physiological saline into the stomach,and Group C was treated by pouring 2ml "Anti Pathogenic Ability Supporting and Intestine Benefiting Solution"(drug content 0 512g/ml)into the stomach and Group D by pouring solution of"Intestine Peace Granules"(drug content Ig/ml)into the stomach,once a day,to observe the therapeutic effect 10 days later.The results showed that no changes took place in various indexes in Group A,and body weight
decreased obviously in Group B,with increased times in defecation and blood stool,disturbance of peripheral T lymphocyte subgroup,decreased SOD activity and elevated MDA content.The colonoscope showed that were several ulcerative surfaces and bleeding spots in the colon(P< 0.05 ～ 0.01 in comparison with Group A).Various symptoms in the rats in Group C and D decreased obviously,with normal tendency of T lymphocyte subgroup and elevated antioxidation,decreased ulcers and bleeding spots in the colonoscope examination,and Group D better than Group C (P< 0.01 ).
