In order to study the functional mechanism of "Toxin Remover"on senile pneumonia,after modeled with pneumococcal pneumonia,32
SD senile rats were divided into the groups of B,C,D and E,together with 8 non-modeled rats as the control group.Groups C,D and E were fed with high dose and lower dose of"Toxin Remover"and cephalosporin and Group A and B were fed with the same amount of physiological saline to observe pathological change of the pulmonary tissues, prostaglandin metabolite in peripheral blood,neutrophil count in lavage solution of pulmonary alveoli,SOD activity,NO and MDA contents.The results showed that the damage in the pulmonary tissues of the senile rats with pneumonia was obvious.In comparison of the Group A,in Group B,the neutrophil in lavage solution of the pulmonary alveoli and plasma TXB 2 content were elevated,and plasma-Keto-PGF 1α content was decreased,and serum and SOD activity in lavage solution of pulmonary alveoli was decrease and NO and MDA contents were elevated.After treated with high dose of "Toxin Remover",SOD activity in peripheral blood and 6-Keto-PGF 1α contents were elevated,and MDA content in serum and lavage solution of pulmonary alveoli was decreased,and NO content in lavage solution of the pulmonary alveoli and plasma TXB 2 content were decreased.The findings indicate that the function of"Toxin Remover" is obvious to senile rats with pneumonia and its mechanism is related to its effects to decrease neutrophil count and resist damage in free radicals and regulate prostaglandin metabolism.
