Experimental Study about the Extracts of Turmerol in Dietary Rabbit with Hyperlipemia

Article Abstract by: TsingHua

Some Japanese big-eared rabbits are fed with the forage including high fat, Xue Zhi Kang and three doses of turmerol extracts,
measure the metabolic change of lipid after killing them at four weeks, nine weeks and twelve weeks respectively, it's found that the rabbits with high-fat diet have high serum cholesterol and triglyceride, low HDL-C, the contents of lipid in the aorta and liver increase obviously, and the longer the feeding time is, the severer the state of illness gets. Only having been added Xue Zhi Kang to them for 9 weeks, are the serum cholesterol and triglyceride made lower, and HDL-C higher. After 12 weeks they are executed, there are no clear changes of cholesterol and triglyceride in the liver, however the atheromatous sclerosis in aortic wall lessens. Adding turmerol extracts for 4 weeks, the serum triglyceride obviously lowers, while HDL-C rises, they are dose-effect in relationship. At 9 weeks, the serum cholesterol begins to lower, 12 weeks later, after execution, the turmerol extracts also can distinctly reduce the contents of cholesterol and triglyceride in the liver and lessen the pathologic change of atheromatous sclerosis in aortic wall. The experiment proves that Xue Zhi Kang and turmerol extracts both can markedly reduce the contents of serum cholesterol and triglyceride, Xue Zhi Kang mainly reduces cholesterol, and turmerol extracts reduces triglyceride.
