Object:To investigate the effect and the mechanism of sennosides in the burn mice model.Methods:26 Balb/c mices were made into the model of burn mice and were classed into treatment group with decoction of sennosides and control group.The total protein and globulin in the saline which was gavaged though the whole small intestine were measured,while the tissue histologic studies of small intestine was perfurmed.Results:①The survival rate in treatment group is higher than that in control group.②The tissue histologic findings showed shortening,fragmentation and atrophy of villi in control group.Some fragmentation and degeneration were observed but the small intestine showed more intact villi and more uniform villus structure and villi were longer in treatment group.③The average number of globulin in test group and in cantrol group were 3 72g/L and 1 57g/L,respectively.There was statistical difference( P <0 05)between the groups.The average number of total protein in test group and in control group were 4 12g/L and 2 13g/L,respectively.There was statistical difference( P <0 05)between the groups.Conclusions:Severe burn injury may damage the barrier of the intestinal mucosa.Sennosides may improve the secretion of mucus and globulin of the intestine and partially prevented the morphologic alteration in the intestinal mucosa 24 hours after burn injury,which decreased the mortality rate of burn injury.
