Objective: To study the
distribution of cfos oncogene expression within central nervous system(CNS) of the rat during
methoxyflurane anesthesia. Methods:Cfos oncogene immunohistochemical technique (ABC
method) was employed. Results:When methoxyflurane concentration was 075%,15% and 20%,
most of Foslike immunoreactive neurons(FLN) appeared in arcuate hypothalamic nucleus(Arc),
anteroventral thalamic nucleus(AV), amydaloid nucleus cluster, bednucleus of the stria
terminalis(BST), midbrain periagueductal gray(PAG), dorsal endopiriform mucleus(DEn),
dorsomedial hypothalamic nucleus(Dm), EdingerWestphal nucleus(EW), Interpeduncular
nucleus(IP), medial andlateral habenular nucleus(Hb), lateral septal nucleus(LS),
paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus(ventral part)(Pav), paraventricular thalamic nucleus(Pv),
reuniens thalamic nucleus(Re), rhomboid thalamic nucleus(Rh), supraoptic nucleus(So) and
ventral posterolateral thalamic nucleus(VPL) in the brain. In the experiment, we discovered yet
that the member of FLN was adding steadlly along with increased the concentration of
methoxyflurane. Conclusion:The results indicate that FLNs participate in the process of
methoxyflurane anesthesia, but its mechanism needs to be studied in the future.
