To investigate the effects and mechanisms of anti - granuloma formation induced by "425" conlbining reagent (combination of shark cartilage powder with "425" reagent ). The mean sizes of schistosome egg granuloma (SEG) were measured.The specific antibody IgG and its subclass IgG, levels, and the percentage of splenic Iymphocyte phenotypes of BALB/cmice 4 weeks (7 weeks post - infection)afler orally adminislering the "425" combining reagent (group I ) . "425" reagenlonly(group Ⅱ )and shark cartilage powder(SCP) only (group Ⅲ ) respectively were detected. The mean sizes of SEG ingr(iup Ⅰ and group Ⅲ were significantly decreased than those in group Ⅳ (infeclion control)and the hepatic fibro5is in bothgroups obviously disappeared. The reduchon rates of SEG had no differences markedly among group Ⅰ to Ⅲ. The IgG andIgG, of group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ were both significantly higher than those in group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ. The ratios of CD4 + /CD8 + in group Ⅰ and group Ⅲ (1 .70 - 1. 88) were obviously higher than those in group Ⅱ (0. 95 ). "425" combiningreagent could induced obviously anti - granuloma effects and its mechanisms were associaled with humoral and cellular immune responses. SCP could induced very strong cellular immune responses and had especially effects on anti - hepatic fibrosis. "425" reagent(angelica root extract)could induced major humoral immune responses. The research improved basictheory and will contribute to practice in the future. No similar reports have beenfound up to now.
