Four groups of Chinese herbs were studied.They were:(1)
Chinese herbs of pungent,
warm and channel tropism of the Pi and Wi(Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis,Radix Aucklandiae,Fructus Amomi,Rhizoma Atractylodis and Rhizoma pinelliae),(2)Chinese herbs of non pungent,non warm and channel tropism of the Pi and Wi(Radix Glycyrrhizae,Cortex Dictamni,Cortex Meliae,Semen Cannabis,and Semen Coicis),(3)Chinese herbs of pungent,warm and channel tropism of non Pi and non Wi(Rhizoma Ligustici,Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii,Rhizoma Cynanchi Stauntonii,Flos Farfarae and Fructus Xanthii),(4)Chinese herbs of non pungent,non warm and channel tropism of non Pi and non Wi(Rhizoma Belamcandae,Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii,Radix Asparagi,Stamen Nelumbinis and Cortex Mori).The parallel comparative study of their analgesic effect was carried out in mice on acetic acid induced the writhing frequency and the latent period of tail flip response to hot water stimulation.Distribution of nature and flavor,and channel tropism was researched retrospectively in Chinese herbs of possessing an analgesic effect.It was suggested that the analgesic effect was a common and characteristic drug effect in
