In four group female New zealang Wbite
rabbits,i.e,thyroidectomized(G1),thyroidectomized and treated with a decoction
composed of
tonify-ing Kidney-Yang herbs(G2),or a pill Jing Gui Sheng Qi Wan(G3)and controls(G),the five
trace
elements(Zn,Cu,Fe,Mn,Cr)of the liver,brain,serum,and back hair were determined with
ICP-atomic emmision spectropho-tometry,The results indicated that;①The Zn/Cu values in the
liver andbrain of G1 decreased significantly(p<0.025～0.01),for the liver this decrement was
caused by Cu increased mainly (P<0.01),while for the brain by Zndecreased mainly(P<0; 075).
②The
changes of five elements in serum and back hair of four groups were not significant,and
didn,t correspond with thechanges in liver and brain, so it might be unreliable to deduce the
changes of the latter according to the changes of the former。③A bove Chinese herbs
couldameliorate the changes of trace elements and improve the symptomes。 These herbs
could not only recover the abnormal element contents, but also changethe proper contents of
other elements,so the effective mechanism of these herbs might be an action of complex
regulation.1t:effectiveness might not be re-alized by providing elements,because the contents
of elements in the decoctions were seldom.
