Objective:To study a specific TLC identification of the Mulberry Bark(MB) and the
Swallowwort Rhizome(SRh) and the Stemona
Root(SR) in the
cough infusion of loquat leaf. Methods:The extracts of MB & SRh & SR and their preparation were subjected to TLC in different development systems. The TLC plat of MB was examined under short wavelength UV light. The TLC plat of SRh. colored two same orange red spots with its preparation by Phosphomolybdic acid ethanol solution. The TLC plat of SR colored two same brownish red spots with its preparation by sulphuric acid ethanol solution. Results:A solution of acetic acid was used for development and the plant of MB was examined under UV light of 365 nm. Specific fluorometric spots of the certified MB were found. A mixture of chloroform and methanol and water(2 ∶1∶ 1.5) was used for development and phosphomolybdic acid ethanol solution is used to color, specific orange red spots of the certified SRh were found. And a mixture of chloroform and methanol and n hexane(5 ∶0.2∶ 5) was used for development and sulphuric acid ethanol solution to color, specific brownish red spots of the certified SR were found. Conclusion:The specific spots showed by TLC can be regarded as the identification of SRh & MB & SR in the cough infusion of loquat leaf.
