OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of Jiejiubaogankoufuye on experimental mice drunk, the concentration of ethanol
in serum and the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase in liver and stomach tissue in mice with ethanol intoxication.METHODS All mice were p.o white spirit after 30 min of p.o saline or " Jiejiubaogankoufuye " made mainly with lobed kudzurine root and liquorice root, and the durations from the disappear of righting reflex to recovery in mice were recorded and the number of dead mice in 24 hours were countered; With the same procedure for six days,the mice were killed by withdrawaling blood from orbit, and resected liver and stomach at once, the concentration of ethanol in serum and the activities of alcohol dehydrogenase in liver and stomach were measured by biochemical chromatometry respectively.RESULTS In drunk test, " Jiejiubaogankoufuye "significantly postponed the time from p.o white spirit to the disappear of righting reflex( P < 0.01 ),shortened the duration of drunk and decreased the death rate of mice( P < 0.05 ) comparing with control group;The serum concentration of ethanol was obviously lower and the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase in liver was higher than control group.CONCLUSIONS " Jiejiubaogankoufuye " might alleviate ethanol intoxication.
