AIM: To observe the effect of
yishoukangleye(a kind of traditional Chinese medicine compound) on the ability of copulation
of
ovariectomized rats so as to investigate the relationship between
yishoukangleye and the changes related to the procreation. METHODS:Fifty four experimental rats were randomly divided into seven groups(three control groups),and then each group was subdivided into 6-7 groups.The sexual gland index,the latency of penis erection and the ability of copulation after ovariectomized were measured in each group,and the differences of them between the groups were compared. RESULTS:The seminal vesicle and prostate index of the rats in yishoukangleye(3.5 g/kg) group(67.4±18.6) were higher than those in the ovariectomized model group(52.1±7.5) significantly(t=8.03,2.41,P< 0.01),and the levator ani muscle index of the rats in yishoukangleye(3.5 g/kg) group(118.1±22.4) were higher than the ovariectomized model group(92.1±18.7) significantly(t=9.13,2.87,P< 0.01). CONCLUSION:Yishoukangleye can obviously promote the growth of sexual gland index,shorten the latency of penis erection and improve the ability of copulation of the ovariectomized rats.
