OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of Yimin Capsule in preventing
insulin resistance in rat models induced by
high lipid diet.
METHOD Male Wistar rats were divided into a blank group, a model group, a treatment group and a control group. The blood pressure and body weight were measured each week. After 6 weeks, the sensitivity to insulin was tested by using the clamping technique for normal blood sugar and high blood plasma insulin and by measuring quadriceps glucose absorption rate. The indexes of tolerance of glucose, free fatty acid in serum, triglyceride, plasma insulin, and sensitivity of insulin of rats were also determined. RESULT Compared with the model group, the body weights of rats in the treatment group were reduced markedly, the tolerance to glucose was normal, the contents of serum triglyceride, free fatty acid, and plasma insulin dropped markedly, and the indexes of insulin sensitivity, glucose infusion rate and glucose absorption rate increased. No significant difference was found between the treatment group and the control group. CONCLUSION Yimin Capsule has the effect of preventing
insulin resistance in rat models induced by
high lipid diet.
