Objective To observe the impact of wild Camellia on the body
weight,blood routine,biochemical indexes,pathology and histology
of rat and obtain the asfety data and set the foundation for the sound development of wild Camellia industry Methods Eighty rats consisted of 40 male and 40 female rats were divided into 4
groups each comprised of 20 rats,i e three dose groups tested with 2500?1250 and 625 mg/kg body weight,respectively and a bland
control group Wild Camellia was given to each rats in experimental groups(1 ml/100mg body weight) and distilled water was given to rats in control group for a succession of 30 days On d31 the animal were killed and examined Results The ALT in high dose group and the AST in other dose groups were obviously increased as compared with that of the control and mild swelling in the 30% liver lobult cells of local liver tissue in high dose group were noticed While diffuse swelling was observed in 10% liver cells with foamy changes Conclusion Wild Camellia is toxic to the liver of rats over an experimental period of 30 days
