Objective To establish a comprehensive assessment method used for analyzing the optimized dosage of the ingredients in TCM
formulas on the basis of processing the experimental data from the dog with experimental acute myocardial ischemia treated by 7 different dosage combinations of danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) and sanqi (Panax notoginseng) in order to meet the need of analyzing and predicting the optimized dosage of ingredients when composing TCM formulas. Method A method of multi objective optimization and fuzzy comprehensive assessment was used in this study. Results The general efficacy and the tendency of efficacy of different dosage combinations of danshen and sanqi were clarified. It was found that the ratios of danshen to sanqi as 10∶6 and 10∶3 were the best of all the ratios for relieving the pathologic changes in the experiment, and the effectiveness of the two ratios was about equal to that of isosorbide dinitrate. Conclusion The method of multi objective optimization and fuzzy comprehensive assessment is suitable to be used in the comprehensive assessment of the optimized ratios of the ingredients of the TCM patent drugs under the secondary development.
