OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of
Rongshi granule on
renal stone formation in rat urolithiasis model. METHOD Rats
of the stone group were given oxalamide while the
Rongshi granule groups (low dose group、middle dose group and high dose group) were adminstrated by Rongshi granule in addition to receiving oxalamide. Control rats were treated with saline. Positive rats were treated with christina loosestrife herb granule in addition to receiving oxalamide . The variables measured were the contents of oxalic acid and calcium in kidneys, the incidence of kidney stone, and the rate of crystal areas in kidney. RESULTS The number of renal, ureter and bladder stone formation was lower in the high dose groups than in the stone group. The contents of oxalic acid and calcium,and the percentage of crystal area were significantly lower in all of the Rongshi granule groups than in the stone group. CONCLUSION Rongshi granule was effective in preventing and treating Urolithiasis of rats induced by oxalamide.
