Objective To investigate the
curcumin's action of
diminishing inflammation and reducing Oxidative stress effect on intima
hyperplasia of iliac artery after balloon injury.Methods 30 New Zealand rabbits were divided randomly into 3 groups:Control group(G1),Atorvastatin group(G2),
curcumin group(G3).Each group had 10 rabbits.Rabbits in G1,G2,G3 were fed with normal saline 5ml/d,Atorvastatin 2.5mg·kg -1·d -1,curcumin 100mg·kg -1·d -1, respectively.Model of balloon injury of iliac artery was established after a week.On the 5th week,The target vessel was taken out.The intima hyperplasia was observed by HE and elastic fibers staining.The content of SOD,MDA,IL-6 were examined.Result The content of SOD in G3 is apparently higher than that of the other two groups,and the content of MDA,IL-6 is lower than that in G1.The area of neointima from high to low was G1,G2,G3.Conclusion Curcumin can decrease the the content of MDA,IL-6, increase the level of SOD significantly and suppress the proliferation of intima.The mechanism may have relation to the action of curcumin's
diminishing inflammation and reducing oxidative stress.
