Objective To study the effects of allitridi on cisplatin( CDDP)-induced nephrotoxicity and explore its possible mechanisms in rats. Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided in to three groups:control,CDDP ,CDDP+ allitridi.Then rats were killed on day 1,3,5 after CDDP treatment.Nephrotoxicity was assessed by measurements of body weight ,kidney index,the contents of blood urea nitrogen (BUN),changes in malondialdehy de (MDA) formation and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in kidney cort ex homogenate. Results Allitridi pretreatment would alleviate the CODP-i nduced changes of body weight,kidney index,BUN, and inhibit the increases of MDA formation in kidney cortex homogenate,and enhance the decrease of activities of SOD in kidney cortex homogenate in rats.Conclusion By oral administration,allitridi pretreatment can remarkably alleviate CDDP-induced nephrotoxicity.The mechanisms may be invol ved in antioxidation,scanvaging of free radicals,and enhancement of the activiti es of some antioxidant enzymes.
