Objective The changed expression of amyloid beta-protein precursor (β-APP) in the senile dementia mice,the effects of different concentration of Kadsura heteroclita (HS 2) on the β-APP expression and the capacity of learning and memory in the senile dementia mice.Methods The senile dementia mice model was established by intraperitoneal injection of D-galactose and oral administration of AlCl 3,the therapy group was treated with HS 2 in the same time,the capacity of learning and memory was tested on all mice with Morris water maze,the mRNA content of β-APP in brain tissue was assayed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.Results The capacity of learning and memory of model mice decreased, the expression of β-APP increased,HS 2 can improve the capacity of learning and memory and reduce the mRNA content of β-APP,it shows the dose-effect relationship in some degrees.Conclusions This study suggested that the HS 2 can improve the capacity of learning and memory and down regulate the expression of β-APP in the senile dementia mice.
