Objective: To research into the pharmacodynmics and tolicology of
Xiaokeshu. Methods: According to gucose decreasing drug
selecting rule <1> , Xiaokeshe was used for normal animals, diabetes animals and hypercholesterolemia rats in the dose of 15 g/kg; 7.5 g/kg daily intragastricall. Results:
Xiaokeshu decreased the normal animal serum glucose and inhibited the high serum glucose induced by the adrenaline significantly compared to the control group. The serum glucose in diabetes animals induced by tetraoxy primidline was changed significantly after taking the drug. There were significant differences between the experimental developing of hypercholesterolemia and hypercholesterolemia model group in the friglyceride and total cholesteral 30 days after taking the drug (P<0 001). The
toxicology test demonstrated there was no side or toxisity eftect affer 90 days in the dose of 50 fold of clinical dose intragstrically, and no significant difference in serum chemical index and pathohistolosical examination compared to the control group. Conclusion: The druy is safe and effectiue in clinical application.
