Objective To investigate the effects of
dobutamine at a rate of 10 μg·kg -1 ·min -1 on hemodynamics,systemic
and regional oxygen uptake and delivery in
endotoxin shock dogs. Methods Two groups of normal adult dogs were selected at random. Group 1( n =6) received an infusion (T=0 min) of 250 μg/kg Escherichia coli endotoxin and normal saline for resuscitation.Group 2( n =6) received the same infusion of endotoxin and resuscitation as group 1,but an infusion of
dobutamine (10 μg·kg -1 ·min -1 )was begun at T=120 mins, and continued throughout the experiments.MAP,CVP,MPAP,PAWP,HR and CO values were measured,as well as the SI,SVRI,PVRI,DO 2,VO 2 and O 2ER values were calculated. Results In the Dobutamine-treated group, cardiac output, flux flow of superior mesenteric artery, systemic and regional DO 2,VO 2 were higher than those in the control group. Conclusion Dobutamine provided hemodynamic support and increased flux flow of superior mesenteric artery in endotoxin shock dogs, thereby increased the systemic and regional DO 2 and VO 2 levels.
