OBJECTIVE:56 patients with
cirrhotic liver and ascites were replenished 3% NaCl by intravenous drop. All of them had three
features:the concentration of plasma Na<130 mmol·L -1 ,the action of
diuretics weakened and the time of ascites vanishing prolonged, then the enhancing effects of diuretic's action was observed.METHODS:According to the effects of plasma Na concentration and the difference of urine quantity, each patient was replenished 3% NaCl 300 ml every day for 1~7 days by intravenous drop, the average in per person was 455.8 ml.RESULTS:With these patients were replenished 3% NaCl by intravenous drop, the urine quantity began to increase ofter 6 h and the total of increased quantity could reach between 500 ml and 1 500 ml within 24 h.The action of diuretics enhanced obviously and the time of ascites vanishing was shortened.Compares with control group, the difference was remarkable( P < 0.01 ).CONCLUSIONS:When the concentration of plasma Na<130 mmol·L -1 ,the action of diuretics reduces obviously. The lower the concentration of plasma Na,the weaker the action of diuretics. We should pay attention to replenish NaCl when diuretics are used.
