AIM: To observe the effect of “
Choline+Piracetam” to treat
age associated memory impairment (AAMI). METHODS: Double blind
trials was performed in 496 cases of AAMI in the aged and preaged with MQ<100 (WMS). The dosage of “
Choline+Piracetam” and placebo was all 2 capsules (0 4 g/cap) tid for 2 mo. The effect was evaluated with MQ (WMS, 436 cases) and light reaction time (60 cases). RESULTS: The mean value of MQ (WMS) before and after treatment was 83 50±15 04 and 94 96± 16 54 ( P <0 01) in 218 cases treated with “choline+piracetam” and 81 05±13 78 and 86 67±16 05 ( P <0 01) in 218 cases in placebo group respectively. There was significant difference of mean value of WMS increment between “choline+piracetam” 11 19±12 13 and placebo 5 55±8 78, ( P <0 01). The total effective rate of the “choline+piracetam” and placebo were 57 80% and 33 03% respectively ( P < 0 01). Significant decrement of simple and chose light (red and green) reaction time was observed between treatment and placebo group. No significant side effects were observed. CONCLUSION: “Choline+piracetam” may increase MQ, decrease light reaction time. It is effective to improve memory function in the elderly.
