Objective To investigate the effect of prescription for
supplementing qi and activating blood
circulation on serum lipid
and arterial structure of atherosclerotic rabbit.Methods 32 New Zealand rabbits were randomized into four groups: normal control group, hyperlipidemia control group, traditional medicine preventive group and traditional medicine treatment group. Each group was observed for two months. Serum lipid was tested before and after treatment. After treatment, aortic tissue was taken for quantitative estimation of lipid and calcium, and also for pathophysiological analysis, including vascular wall thickness, intimal thickness, vascular wall area, intimal area and arterial lumina area. circulation plays an important role in lowering TC, TG and LDL- TC in AS rabbits. 2 .This prescription is capable of lowering intimal area and intimal thickness, thus inhibiting AS formation. Conclusions Prescription for supplementing qi and activating blood circulation can lower serum lipid and inhibit AS formation.
