PingChuan Formula on bronchial asthma. Methods:To establish the
model of asthmatic
rats,the SD rats were sensitized by intra-abdominal injection of mixed ovalbumin, and then activated by inhaling 2 % ovalbumin.The rats were randomly divided into control group, model group,
Pingchuan Formula group and Dexamethasoni group.The express of IFN-γ/IL-4 in serum and BALF were determined by ELISA.General histological changes of lung tissue were observed by hematoxylin and eosin stained sections at the 28 th day. Results: The ratio of IFN-γ/IL-4 in serum and BALF of model group was less than normal group.Histologicl examination showed that airway walls infiltrated with eosinophil, epithelial damage, excessive luminal mucus and submucosal edema of the airways in model rats. Pingchuan Formula could ascend the IFN-γ
level,and decend the IL-4 level, thus make a recovery of the IFN-γ/IL-4. The collagen deposition decreased in Pingchuan Formula group compared with the model rats.Conclusion:Pingchuan Formula can up regulate the ratio of IFN-γ/IL-4,which is an effective prescription in treating asthma.
