OBJECTIVE To establish a fingerprint analysis on the volatile oil of Cinnamomum cassia Presl and to offer the characteristic
data for the quality evaluation.METHODS The main components of the volatile oil of Cinnamomum cassia Presl from different producing areas in Guangdong province and Guangxi province were compared by GC fingerprinting. The common components and the resemblance were determined . The GC system consisted of HP 6890 and FID. The analysis was performed on a HP-5 column (Crosslinked Mehyl siloxame, 30 m×0.321 mm,0.25 μm). The temperatures of sample vent and FID were 240-300 ℃,respectively. The column temperature was programmedly elevated from 100-200 ℃. The carrier gas was N2. The flow rate was 0.4 mL·min-1. The refractive ratio of distillation was 50 : 1. RESULTS The GC fingerprinting was established. The similarity degree of the crude drugs from different producing areas were compared . CONCLUSION The method is reliable, accurate and can be applied to the quality control of Cinnamomum cassia Presl.
