The Preliminary Investigation of Marine Drug Organisms in Shenshan Island

The marine organisms in the tideland and nearby sea area of Shenshan island have been investigated.There were 121 marine organisms on the tidelands including 28 species of marine drug organisms,such as Acanthochiton rubrolineatus、Hemicentiotus pulcherrimus、Gloiopeltis furcata etc.Many of them are marine Chinese crude drugs or capable of being produced to Chinese patent drugs and the abundant marine sponge resources in Shenshan island are potential to be screened for active materials.According to the preliminary investigation in nearby sea area of Shenshan island during 2003 and 2004,there were 11 toxic algae including PSP causing algae(Alexandrium catenatum,Alexandrium tamarens),DSP causing algae(Dinophysis acuminata,Dinophysis forti),ASP causing algae(kerina breve),NSP causing algae(Pseudo-Nitzschia pungens,Pseudo-Nitzschia multiseries,PseudoNitzschia multistriata),and other toxic algae may include active material(Gymnodinium sangium,kerina mikimoto,Chatenela marina,Heterisigma akashiwo,Heterocapsa circularisquama).Saxitoxin and brevetoxin producing algae are potential to pharmacy application.
