Objective To observe the effect of
gardenia jasminoides ellis and other traditional Chinese herbs on Balb/c mice infec-(ted)
with coxsakie viral B_3(CVB_3) acute myocarditis.Methods The Balb/c mice were divided into model group,
gardenia jasminoides ellis group,
coptis chinensis franch group,scutellaria baicalensis georgi group,folium isatidis group,misture group and normal control group.After the infected mice were lavaged with these traditional Chinese herbs for 7 days,they were sacrificed.The CVB_3 from mice myocardia were separated,the mice myocardial pathological scores were estimated and observed ultramicrostructure of the myocardial cells under electron microscope.Results The groups treated with traditional Chinese herbs showed the viral titrations,myocardial pathological scores and ultrastructuraly less myocardial cells damage ,compared with the model group;the effect of the misture group was the best.Conclusion The Chinese traditional herbs tested in this study can treat CVB_3 myocarditis.
