Objective: To investigate the situation of use of narcotic
analgesics in Fuzhou General Hospital of Nanjing Military Region
in recent years and to offer the guideline for doctors in clinical rational use of the drugs.Methods: The data of narcotic
analgesics used in this hospital during 2002-2004 were collected. The kinds of drugs,total dosage,purchase cost of narcotic analgesics and frequency of drug usage(DDDs)were analyzed.Results: The total dosage and the purchase cost of narcotic analgesics showed an increasing tendency year by year in this hospital.The increased rate of purchase cost of narcotic analgesics was higher than that of all drugs used in this hospital.The
consumption and DDDs of pethidine injection were still relatively high although their use was decreased slightly year by year.The consumption of morphine was increased,but its proportion in narcotic analgesics was still not high.The DDDs of fentanyl patch was low in all narcotic analgesics.Conclusion: In recent years,the use of narcotic analgesics in this hospital was gradually rationalized,but there were still some problems,such as high DDDs and large consumption of pethidine injection.
