Objective To investigate the
antihistamine mechanism of Chinese herbal medicine by histamine-skin experiments and to campare
the effective similarities and differences between the Chinese herbal medicine and the western medicine. Method The 45 healthy volunteers were divided into 4 groups:
Small-blue-dragon Decoction group,Mahuang Decoction group,loratadine group and placebo group. In each group,histamine skin tests (histamine concentrations with 20.0 , 7.3 , 2.7 , 1.0 mmol/L ) were performed before treatment and after treatment for 2,5,24 hours. 15 minutes later,after skin tests,wheal and flare areas were measured,the AUDRC ( area under dose-response curve, AUDRC) were drawed. Result Compared with pre-administration,the wheal and flare areas have no significant difference in Small-blue-dragon Decoction group and Mahuang Decoction group (P > 0.05),while loratadine group shows a highly significant treatment efficacy(P < 0.05). Conclusion Probably the Chinese herbal medicine is to repress the mastocyte taking off the grain function and to reduce histamine secretion sequentially.
