Objective:To observe the serum T & E_2 and
prostatic index in
morphine withdrawal rats treated with Buzhong Yiqi Decoction,
a traditional Chinese medicine. Methods: A physical dependent model in rats was established by subcutaneous injection of morphine for 5 days and then morphine was naturally withdrawn. From Day 7, 30 natural
morphine withdrawal rats were treated with Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (2.5 ml·kg~ -1 ,5 ml·kg~ -1 , 10 ml·kg~ -1 ) for 5 weeks, and then the serum T & E_2 and
prostatic index were measured, the results of which were compared with those of the natural morphine withdrawal rats treated with normal saline. Result:The prostatic index and serum T level of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction treated rats were observably decreased, and serum E2 level was increased, especially in the 5 ml·kg~ -1 ,10 ml·kg~ -1 dose group (P<0.01). Conclusion:Buzhong Yiqi Decoction can significantly inhibit the multiplication of prostate and increase the serum T of morphine withdrawal rats, which may be partly due to the evasion of the serum sexual hormone level of the rats.
