Article Abstract by: TsingHua

Original Author: Journal of Liaoning College of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Objective:To observe the effects of Peristrophe roxburghiane on insulin sensitivity, serum lipid, liver function in rats of
insulin resistance with fatty liver. Methods:Adult SD rats were fed with high-fatsugar diet, then peristrophe roxburghiane was administered to the rats for 8 weeks. And then the levels of FFA,TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C in blood sample, the activities of AST,ALT,fasting serum glucose(FBG)and insulin were measured, and insulin-sensitivity index was calculated. The liver was weighed and collected to observe the histologica changes, and liver index was calculated. Results:Treatment of peristrophe roxburghiane can decrease the levels of FFA and TG,increase HDL-C,lower the activities of ALT and AST,and improve the histological changes of liver tissues.Low dose of peristrophe roxburghiane can elevate insulin sensitivity and improve glucose tolerance. Conclusions:Peristrophe roxburghiane possesses the regulation of serum lipid and protection of the liver function on the rats of insulin resistance with fatty liver, and these actions may be concerned with improvement of the insulin sensitivity.
