Objective To observe the effects of total glucosides of paeony(TGP) on the renal injury in
mesangial proliferative
glomerulonephritis
(MsPGN) rats, and provide experiment evidence for the treatment of MsPGN with TGP. Methods The MsPGN model was induced by gastrointestinal comprehensive immunization. Different doses of TGP were given in treatment group. Tripterygium wilfordii(TW) was given in control group. Urinary protein, blood biochemical parameters and the pathology changes of renal were observed. Results Compared with normal group, the urinary protein, blood createnine(Cre) and urea nitrogen(Bun) increased in model group. The
mesangial cells(MC) were found with moderate to severe proliferation and extracellular matrix(ECM)accumulated in glomeruli. After treatment with TGP for four weeks, the damage of the renal structure alleviated markedly in treatment group, and its urinary protein, Cre and Bun significantly decreased. Conclusion TGP improves the renal function and partly reverts the glomerular histopathologyical changes in rats with MsPGN.
