In order to observe the antimicrobic effect of tea tree oil woman lotion, suspension quantitative test method was used to
determine its minimal microbe-inhibiting concentration and germicidal efficacy. Results: The killing rates of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli exposed to the stock solution of the tea tree oil woman lotion for 5 min were 100% and 99.97% respectively and that of
Candida albicans exposed for 10 min was 99.20%.The minimal inhibition concentrations of the lotion for Candida albicans,Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were 2%,10% and 12.5%(v/v) respectively.Over 25% of calf serum in the fungal suspension slightly influenced the efficacy of the tea tree oil woman lotion in killing Candida albicans and the influence increased with increasing the organic substance content. Conclusions: The tea tree oil woman lotion has significant germicidal and inhibiting effects on both vegetative forms of bacteria and fungi, but its effects were influenced siginificantly by organic substance.
