The therapeutic effect of taurine on red blood cell immunity damage in lead poisoning rats

Article Abstract by: TsingHua

Original Author: Chinese Occupational Medicine
Objective To study the effect of taurine on red blood cell immunity in lead poisoning rats. Methods 30 rats were randomly
divided into 3 groups: negative group, positive group and therapeutic group. The negative group was gavaged by distilled water while other groups by 6 g/L lead acetate solution 60 mg/kg qd for 30 days. Then the therapeutic group was gavaged by taurine solution 400 mg/kg qd and other groups by distilled water for 30 days. The changes in red blood cell receptor rosette rate (RBC-C3b-RR)and red blood cell immune complexes rosette rate (RBC-CIC-RR)were observed. Results The RBC-C3b-RR of positive group was significantly lower than that of the negative group (P<0.01), the RBC-CIC-RR of positive group was significantly higher than that of the negative group (P<0.01). The RBC-C3b-RR of the therapeutic group was significantly higher than that of positive group (P<0.01), the RBC-CIC-RR of the therapeutic group was significantly lower than that of positive group (P<0.05).Conclusion Taurine has obvious therapeutic effect against the injury induced by lead on red blood cell immunity of rats.
