AIM:To develop the fiber optic chemical sensor di ss olution test system (FOCSDT) for application in the
dissolution test
of prometha zine
hydrochloride tablets.METHOD:In the
dissolution test of pro methazine hydrochloride tablets which were carried out in 0.1 mol/L HCl using t he rotating basket method at a rate of 100 r/min, the FOCSDT to be developed in the study and the conventional UV-Vis spectrophotometer was compared at the wav elength of 248 nm.The absorbance readings of FOCSDT system were corrected for t urbidity-related scatter using two wavelengths.RESULTS:In the con centration range from 6.18 to 22.66 μg/ml, There was linear relationship betw een the concentration of promethazine hydrochloride tablets and F 0/F. And when compared with those obtained using the method of pharmacopoia of China,there wa s no significant difference between the two methods (P>0.05).CONCLU SION:As an online analysis, the FOCSDT system could provide the real-time ,continuous,quantitative data of dissolution tests.This method is also useful in monitoring of sustained-release dissolution. In addition, this intelligent met hod in the dissolution tests could generate reliable data.
