Carbapenems are regarded as potential antibiotics in clinical use. In this paper, the primary screening method which has
been set with the
outer membrane as a target will help us to discover
carbapenems, and will be used in the study of mechanism of anti bacterial drugs and the evaluation of prospect of new drugs. During the studying of the primary screening method, an OprD 2 deficient strain P.aeruginosa 7208 was chosen first. The screening method, by using resistant strain P.aeruginosa 7208, the standard strain P.aeruginosa PAO1 and PAO1 (containing 50 μg/ml ampicillin) as the test bacteria, was proved to be more sensitive to carbapenems as compared with other kinds of antibiotics, which indicated that it might be efficient for primary screening. In addition, some compounds which cause the outer membrane lesion might be found by using the primary screening method. During the search of new agents, 11 strains were picked out from 1255 soil isolates and tested on the screening.
