objective:To study the effects of clomiphene citrate(cc) on the
thickness of secretory-phase
endometrium. Method:Thirty six
infertile cases with regular ovulation were included in the study. Amony them. 20cases treated with CC served as study group and another 16 cases without any treatment as control group. Thethickness of
endometrium on 1 lth day after ovulation was measured with vaginal ultrasonography and serum estrodiof(E2) and progesterone (P) were measured by RIA in the meantime. Results: Serum E2 and P levels instudy group were significantly higher than those in control group(680. 8±206. 9 pmol/L vs 309. 6±62. 5 pmol/L, 52. 7±13. 6 nmol/1- vs 35. 6f 12. 4 nmol/L ). However, the P/E, level in study group was significantly lowerthan that in control group(82. ± 3. 6 vs 107. 0±3. 6), the
thickness of endometrium in study group was alsosignificantly thinner than that of endometrium in control group(0. 63±0. 11 cm vs 0. 79±0. 09 cm). There wasa significant positive correlation between serum progesterone level and endometrium thickness in control group.But in study group there was no such correlation. Conclusion:CC may affect the development of secretory-phaseendometrium through significant decrease of the P/E2 level in luteal phase.
