I''M NOT AFRAID OF NEEDLES

I’M NOT AFRAID OF NEEDLES
I started reading about acupuncture when I was told I had to go through surgery after
a car crash I was in 1997.
If there’s something I can’t get over is people (physicians or whoever they may be) putting me to sleep and taking control over my body. Besides, I was not granted more than 50% of the possibility that I might be able to walk again.
I’ve been practicing martial arts for a lifetime, so I asked my people to drag me to my Chinese doctor, since he had studied both in China and in Argentina and had got his university degrees at both countries. He made an agenda for the next six months, and told me it would be very hard, but we had a long conversation before starting my treatment since he wanted me to be sure I’d be really committed to the effort that lay before me.
This was the time when I started once more a new path in my life. Apart from the painful exercises I had to force my fragile body to do, acupuncture was the most incredible experience I’ve gone through. In the meantime I watched with my own eyes several “miraculous” healings other people were going through together with me though for different ailments.
Based on ancient Chinese principles, acupuncture is a simple procedure that gently realigns the body’s energy system, without the discomfort people believe needles bring. Unlike other energy healing methods, it incorporates an emotional element to the healing process, addressing unresolved emotional issues as a likely cause of physical disease, psychological dysfunction, and personal performance limits. Negative emotional experiences disrupt the energy meridians that run through our body. The physical changes we feel from those disruptions become attached to the memory of that experience and affect the way we see the world until we heal that disruption. Properly applied, acupuncture quickly realigns the energy meridians with respect to negative memories, disconnects the physical discomfort attached to them, and quite often removes the resulting symptoms.
I will never thank life enough for having me go through this painful experience which changed most of my points of view, giving me a new perspective of life and its meaning. My Chinese doctor left Argentina because he said he couldn’t help this country any more, since it had become deaf to his possibilities. He felt people didn’t really want to get healed. I’m sorry because I’m staying here for a longer time, so I’ll have to look for someone else. But the real message is, although acupuncture is one of the paths in life, and each one of us choose the one that matches his/her personality, that it is worth trying if you get over the first fear of needles. Anyway, don’t millions of people have tattoos?
I only meant to share my personal journey. Maybe somebody needs it and can use my own experience, which I’m going to start again, this time for different reasons.
